April 13, 2008 - More Lower Cowl

Looking at the bottom edge, I realized I needed to make the gear cutouts deeper.  So I did that.

I taped the bottom cowl tight to the top cowl.

I matched-drilled the top cowl to the bottom cowl in the inside center nostril area and clecoed.  This is why you need to have the bottom cowl lip.

I hadn't made the bottom backing strips so I did that.

I also made this very long sanding block to be used on the cowl long edges.

I clecoed on the bottom backing strips and trimmed the bottom cowl bottom edges.

I also trimed some off the side and aft edges.

The fit gets better with each iteration.

The obligatory "starting to look like an airplane" shot.
